Information

At BusyBee Farms, our seedlings and plants stand apart. We focus on offering unique, often hard-to-find varieties alongside trusted favorites. Unlike big box stores with their standardized selections, we cultivate our seedlings and plants specifically for our local area, ensuring they thrive in your garden. We've spent years perfecting our growing methods to guarantee success for our customers.

Seedlings/ Plants Available:

We do have plants available, but I have not had time to place pictures and descriptions on the website. Plants are for pick-up only. You may call or text at any time to let me know what you are looking for, and I can send pictures of what I have. Most of the varieties are not "normal" heirlooms. I think a lot of them taste better and produce more, but soil quality and organic fertilizers make a difference. I specified organic fertilizers because a lot of synthetic fertilizers will kill the microbiology in your soil that promotes healthy plants and helps fight pests. Those are only our preferences. Gardening isn't one size fits all. That is the beauty of it. You get to develop your gardening space to suit your wants and needs! <3

Frequently asked questions

What makes your seedlings/plants special?

Our seedlings are mostly the odd varieties you do not see in stores mixed with a couple better known varieties. Big box stores sell a general amount of the same kinds of seedlings/ plants in all of their stores. Our seedlings are different, but we have grown them for many years to make sure they are productive in our area.

Are your plants organic and non-GMO?

We are not certified organic federally, but we only use organic pesticides when necessary. We have built our soil with beneficial nematodes and mycorrhizal fungi that fight pests and diseases while strengthening the root system of the plants. By building a healthy soil we make the plants more resilient and less likely to need any pesticide at all, even organic. Each year is different, so when we do need to focus on a pest/fungal issue, only turn to organic and bee friendly additives.

*Example* 2025 has been a year for squash bugs. Spent coffee grounds and cinnamon seem to work really well but need to be reapplied often. Basil did not deter the 8 hornworms I pulled off my plants, but for the number of tomatoes I have, that number (only 8) doesn't seem bad to me.
